The Time has come...

We are excited to announce that our first Sunday morning meeting will be August 14, 2011.  We will be meeting at The Bridge, a concert venue on East Walnut in Downtown Columbia.  Joel Eisleben and his band have already started practices as well as studying and praying about how music can be used to help people respond to the Good News of Jesus.  Adam Wheeler is excited about preaching through the book of Mark: "When God came to the neighborhood."  Our Sunday morning meeting time is designed to make the Cross of Jesus good news to people in Columbia.  Therefore we want to purposefully remove as much of the weird religious stuff that has attached itself to Christianity.  Wear whatever.  Expect music and preaching, but in words that are understandable to anybody.

We want to start a new church for many reasons, but primarily because we believe that Jesus Christ dying in our place, for our sins, is the answer to every question.  This is both Good News and Bad News.  If God had to die in order to bring us back to himself, then we are far worse then we know.  Self-help, religious practices and life coaching will never be enough to fix our dilemma.  But it is also Good News.  He did it.  Based on what he has done, I can be made right with God, no matter how jacked up my life is.  Only at the Cross is God seen for who he is, and only at the Cross are we see for who we are.
